Happy to share a movement from the performance of “Septem,” a piece I wrote for Peter Nowak (AKA “Pedro”) about 4 years ago and that - I believe – has aged well. About “Septem”
.
Each of the miniatures in SEPTEM is inspired by the idea of the seven deadly sins; I decided to do a “seven deadly sins” after re-discovering Kurt Weill’s work of the same name. Ironically, this “seven deadly sins” piece has six movements – each moment represents a sin, except for Sloth and Gluttony, which are one movement (why do it twice if it can be only done once?). There are two solo movements, one for the violin, and one for the clarinet — these are played without pause.
